Trust Meeting 8 Feb – Notes

For those who couldn’t attend, here’s a quick rundown of the main points discussed at Thursday night’s Trust meeting (full minutes to follow):
The Buddy Club is a group comprising seven young adults with learning difficulties and three carers who meet at Cliftonhill every Monday to take part in social, educational and ground improvement activities (as well as attending home matches). Another example of the determination of both Trust and club to be a force for good in the local community.
Rovers Football Camp: making his first appearance at a Trust meeting was Rovers 1st team coach Tony McMinn. In addition to his coaching duties, Tony plays a key role (alongside Pat Rolink) in the club’s various community outreach initiatives , as well as helping out on the club admin front. Tony’s latest initiative is the forthcoming Rovers Football Camp, a two day coaching event for local children between the ages of 18 months and 14. Tony expressed his gratitude to the Trust for contributing the £384 required to pay the other coaches involved in the event.
Ciaran Donnelly’s testimonial year: among the fundraising events planned are a Football Q&A session hosted by ‘Off The Ball’ presenter and Daily Record columnist Tam Cowan, a race night organised by the Trust (details to be confirmed), and a golf day. Look out for full details on the club website and in the match programme.
Community involvement: Pat Rolink spoke eloquently about the club and Trust’s absolute commitment to playing a positive role in the local community. Pat also pledged to organise a Comedy Night in aid of Trust funds later this year.
Media Day : Eddie H introduced Donal O’Driscoll of Pitchside Media, a Glasgow-based videography company who are planning to put together an Albion Rovers video featuring interviews with fans and players as well as coverage of the forthcoming home match against Clyde. Look out for more info on the official club website and this message board
Free Bus Offer: Ronnie Boyd, the Trust’s representative on the Rovers board, confirmed that despite the postponement of the recent away match v Arbroath, the club’s directors are still committed to funding free buses for a forthcoming away fixture (although exactly which match has still to be decided). Bill Walker.
